Why should anyone with such a record—gay or straight, trans- or “cis-gender”—hold so powerful a position in the federal healthcare bureaucracy? If it were Gretchen Whitmer, or Andrew Cuomo, or Gavin Newsom, all of whom ordered nursing homes to take in COVID patients, it would be no less outrageous.
