A student in my undergraduate class has tweeted her displeasure (or so I’m told) at my having noted the abundant scientific evidence that masks do not prevent transmission of flu-like respiratory viruses.
My department chair just called to ask if that is true—it is, as I readily told him—and to let me know that NYU’s COVID response team, or whatever it’s called, will shortly be emailing all my students to reaffirm the policy (which, I told them explicitly, I don’t advise them to ignore).
I do believe they should be thinking for themselves, and studying the evidence for any claim or mandate, instead of merely bowing to authority. That’s my intellectual and civic obligation, as a teacher, whatever NYU’s official policy, or New York State’s. It’s one thing to expect the students to obey their institution’s rules, but quite another thing to urge them not to think about it.
We’ll be discussing this whole contretemps in class, as it perfectly exemplifies the power of propaganda, and the lengths to which the powers that be will go to safeguard its narratives from any contradiction.

The Covid 19 situation is ridiculous.
I have had multiple people tell me that they made an appointment to get tested, got to the lab, saw how long the line was and left. Then three days later they are called to say that the test (which they never took) was positive.
This happened many, many times at different state labs.
I have friends in the hospitals telling me that they code admissions with a positive Covid diagnosis because they get reimbursed higher from the insurance companies.
The alleged attempt by Putin to assassinate Aleksei Navalny—the Juan Guaido of Russia—by means of the nefarious “Novichok” is a sequel to the equally transparent propaganda fantasy that Putin tried to whack the Skirpals through the same demonic means.
Here Paul McKeigue very carefully demonstrates that the whole foundation of both fictions is a lie.
Will this FINALLY end the bullshit? Of course not. McKeigue’s work won’t even be reported, much less rebutted, but has slipped right down the memory hole, just like the VIPS forensic study of the “hacking” of those DNC emails (showing that they weren’t hacked at all, but downloaded), and all the other evidence that “Russia-gate” was bull as well.

Why? When there’ve been at least half a dozen studies finding that children don’t transmit COVID-19?
And why Election Day? Is this a subtle way to hold all those children and their families hostage so they’ll vote for Biden/Harris?

“Stay safe” is totalitarian etiquette
Just like masks and “social distancing.”
So let’s knock it off.
This admirably tactful and meticulous analysis, by a scientist who worked for years in the pharmaceutical industry, demolishes the British government’s catastrophic policy re: COVID-19, and the government-and-media’s disgraceful fear-mongering, by shrieking endlessly about the rise in “cases” that aren’t cases.
This is one to share as widely as we can, because the crime nailed so lucidly by Dr. Yeadon is also being perpetrated here, and elsewhere all around the world, at catastrophic cost.
Because of the high false positive rate and the low prevalence, almost every positive test, a so-called case, identified by Pillar 2 since May of this year has been a FALSE POSITIVE. Not just a few percent. Not a quarter or even a half of the positives are FALSE, but around 90% of them. Put simply, the number of people Mr Hancock sombrely tells us about is an overestimate by a factor of about ten-fold. Earlier in the summer, it was an overestimate by about 20-fold.
