Exactly. Gnawing at the back of my mind is Solzhenitsyn’s description of innocent Russians getting dragged out of their home at 3am…and then tortured…and then worked to death or killed. They all thought, “this can’t be happening; and yet it is.” By the time they realized justice and reason didn’t matter, it was too late. Maybe it’s too late for us.
