A letter from Amtrak CEO Bill Flynn. View as a web page John Kirby | 12,173 points # 7040068517 | My Account Dear John, At Amtrak®, the health and safety of our customers and employees has always been our top priority. The science is clear. The COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective and lifesaving. They are proving effective against the current surge of variants, especially at preventing severe disease, hospitalization and death. Vaccines are a critical tool to bring the pandemic under control and getting more people back to doing the things they love, like traveling to visit friends and family. When the vaccines became available to the general public, Amtrak encouraged employees to get vaccinated by making appointments available at Amtrak worksites and partnering with Walgreens® for additional locations. Now, we are taking a further step to protect our customers, our families, and ourselves. Effective November 1, 2021, Amtrak is mandating vaccinations for employees. Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have taken an accelerated approach to upgrading our safety measures and technology, setting a New Standard of Travel. We feel that it will provide our customers and employees with added peace of mind aboard our trains, in our stations and at our worksites, knowing that all Amtrak employees are vaccinated or have documented weekly negative test results. We are also happy to announce that we will continue to waive change fees for reservations made through January 4, 2022, including for those booked with Amtrak Guest Rewards ® points. So as you begin making your travel plans for the fall and throughout the holidays, you can book with confidence knowing that you can change your plans if needed. I want to thank you for choosing Amtrak. We look forward to seeing you on board. Sincerely, Bill Flynn Amtrak Chief Executive Officer |
