Because they’re not really cases.
Once upon a time—i.e., last year—if you told someone you had a “case of the flu,” or a “case of pneumonia,” it would obviously mean that you weren’t feeling well, due to your flu or pneumonia symptoms.
It would not mean that you’d been tested for it, even though you felt perfectly fine, and the test came back “positive.” But then, last year, no doctor would have tested you for a respiratory virus when you had no symptoms of a respiratory virus.
This is just one of many staggering examples of how crazy this whole crisis is, and how crazy it has driven countless people, especially the best-educated, who’ve swallowed such absurdities hook, line and sinker.
