USG is now providing funds for freelancers and independent contractors!

Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program, for freelancer or independent contractor, covered by the new CARES Act.

Typically, self-employed people, freelancers and contractors can’t apply for unemployment. This bill creates a new, temporary Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program that provides unemployment coverage through the end of the year, 2020, to freelancers and independent contractors and also provides an additional $600 per week for 4 months in addition to regular state benefits.

*** Since each state administers Unemployment Insurance (UI), they also handle the PUA program, Pandemic Unemployment Assistance.  This is under the new CARES Act.

The Fed will send 4 Trillion to the states to compensate them for the PUA program, and for increased UI benefits.
