Cuomo declares state of emergency for New York; Italy locks down Milan (2)

Cuomo’s move was inevitable, once the NY legislature had passed their Enabling Act.

Look for more such measures, irrespective of the numbers of those afflicted, the severity of their conditions, and the possibilities of an effective treatment.

FWIW, the South China Morning Post reports that the epidemic has grown less severe in China, with “China’s manufacturing heartland back to normal” as over6 million Chinese go back to work, and Chinese cases of the coronavirus falling below 100, while the numbers climb elsewhere. (I write “FWIW” because the SCMP, though headquartered in Hong Kong, tends to serve the interests of China’s private sector.)
