State bill proposes Christianity be Missouri’s official religion
12:28 AM CST on Friday, March 3, 2006
By John Mills, News 4

Missouri legislators in Jefferson City considered a bill that would name Christianity the state’s official “majority” religion.

House Concurrent Resolution 13 has is pending in the state legislature.

Many Missouri residents had not heard about the bill until Thursday.

Karen Aroesty of the Anti-defamation league, along with other watch-groups, began a letter writing and email campaign to stop the resolution.

The resolution would recognize “a Christian god,” and it would not protect minority religions, but “protect the majority’s right to express their religious beliefs.

The resolution also recognizes that, “a greater power exists,” and only Christianity receives what the resolution calls, “justified recognition.”

State representative David Sater of Cassville in southwestern Missouri, sponsored the resolution, but he has refused to talk about it on camera or over the phone.

KMOV also contacted Gov. Matt Blunt’s office to see where he stands on the resolution, but he has yet to respond.

"No one should call them dogs"

Bush’s ‘official’ dogs get presidential treatment

NEW DELHI: A five-star hotel in the Indian capital is playing host to a special team that is part of US President George Bush’s security entourage – some 65 dogs that are referred to as “officials”.

The specially trained dogs were flown in as part of the multi-layer security for Bush and have been put up in deluxe rooms at the Le Meridien Hotel in central Delhi.

According to Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) MP Nilotpal Basu, who gave the information to the media, the hotel authorities initially refused to accommodate the four-legged “officials”, saying they did not have provisions for accommodating animals.

Let's get Bob Fitrakis on the ballot in Ohio!

From Sheila Parks:

Please forward as widely as you can, so that everyone you know in Ohio and everyone who knows someone in Ohio will get this….

Dear Friends,

Bob Fitrakis is running as a Green for Governor of Ohio

He is for hand counted paper ballots (HCPB) and also for stopping the disenfranchisment of voters by all other means.

This is major, and makes it imperative that he get on the ballot.

You can really make a big difference.

He needs people to gather signatures for him to get on the ballot

Ohio requires independent candidates to get 5X the amount of signatures that the two parties are required. That means he needs 5000 validated signatures. The campaign, therefore, needs to gather 8,500 signatures.

If you are available for this crucial and time sensitive work, please contact my good friend Dorri Steinhoff, his campaign manager, at dorristeinhoff[at] or go to Bob’s site

Bush doesn't mind those low, low ratings

What follows is a message from Len Hart, and then a sharp reply from Jonathan Simon, one of our most astute and eloquent election reform activists:

News from the barricades. The tide has turned. CBS News reports Bush’s approval rating at 34% -the lowest ever. Some 60 percent of Americans have turned against continuing the war of aggression against Iraq even as Bush denies the threat of a civil war in Iraq. And every decent American is sickened unto nausea by the idea that our nation, under our Constitution, is perpetrating sexually perverted tortures on people at various secret Eastern European gulags like Nazis!

Dear Len–

Means nothing. Bush (and Cheney) actually get off on being disliked. After all, friend, that’s what power is to them: not to be popular but to have your way against the will of the people you rule. That this rule will be perpetuated in a simulated democracy via the unthinkable computerized perversion of the electoral system just sweetens the joke for them. You’ve seen the smirk.

Bush, like the more energetic Hitler, is a nihilist at the core and nothing is fulfilling to a nihilist unless it is the big lie (the bigger the better), the utter destruction of reality and of the truth. Bush really couldn’t bear his high approval ratings; they were, in a sense, disempowering. So forget your 34% and your conventional calculus, which would make sense and be heartening only if America were still a democracy. It is not. It resembles a democracy the way a stuffed animal resembles an animal. That’s all that’s left.

Besides, Len, with the long-delayed “capture” of Osama on tap for this year (they need a cover story for the theft of E2006), prepare yourself for a reversal to 66% approval in the not-too-distant future (Bush will just have to grin and bear it somehow). Yes it’s highly irrational but Osama’s head on the platter will somehow make it all OK again with the American people. “Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket, save it for a rainy day. . .” It’s that choreographed. It’s that evil.–Jonathan

A challenge to the freepers!

Today I am issuing a direct challenge to Bush supporters. I challenge them on the facts. I challenge them on the issues. I challenge them to prove that the have even the slightest bit of information about the people in the Bush administration, their philosophies, their histories and their conduct.

I will be reading the posts found on the website. I will be reading and critiquing the responses to the posts. I will offer the members of that website a chance to debate me on the issues as I expose their lack of knowledge and their lemming mentality. I will show you how these people thrive on mutual group political masturbation. I will show you how these people have given up on the notion of thinking for themselves.

Are you up for the challenge? I hope they are! Think about it!

A plea for Steve Heller!

Hello to the family and friends of Steve Heller. My name is Peter Soby, Jr. I am a very close friend of Steve’s. I am writing on his behalf, with the advice and consent of his lawyer, because Steve is in serious legal trouble and he needs our help – not $$ help, but help by writing a letter, making a phone call, sending a fax or an email, things just about anyone can do.

Steve is a whistleblower; he is alleged to have seen and then exposed legal documents showing that Diebold Election Systems, Inc., the country’s leading manufacturer of electronic voting machines and voting machine software, was using illegal, uncertified software in their California voting machines. He has been charged with 3 felonies, which is an outrageous abuse of the law and of power. Details on what is happening to Steve and how to help are in the following links. Please feel free to forward this email to anyone and everyone. Read on…

First, here is a link to a story in the Feb. 22 edition of the Los Angeles Times. If for some reason you cannot open the link, let me know and I will email you the text of the article.

Man Pleads Not Guilty in Voting Device Case

Now, here are more details on this situation, with corroborating links, from I post I wrote for Arianna Huffington’s blog. This is the link with important information on how to help Steve Heller.

Whistleblower Charged With Three Felonies for Exposing Diebold’s Crimes

Another way to help Steve is by writing a letter to the editor of the Los Angeles Times. You can use the same talking points from my post (the link above) in your letter to the editor. Directions on how to send a letter to the editor can be found at this link under Their snail mail address is Letters to the Editor, Los Angeles Times, 202 W. 1st Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012. They want letters to be 150 words or less, with your name, address and daytime phone number.

The next link is to a post from the same blog written by Lyn Davis Lear

Whistleblower Hero is Threatened with Prison for Exposing Diebold

I thank you in advance for any help you might be able to give Steve. He is a patriot and a whistleblower and should not be prosecuted. And again, this email can be forwarded to anyone you think might be interested.
