The evidence suggests that Putin's victory was far more legitimate than Bush/Cheney's, Trump's, or Hillary's nomination (just to name a few of all too many "sham elections" in the USA). Republican Sen. John McCain blasted President Trump on Tuesday for calling Russian leader Vladimir Putin to congratulate him for his re-election victory.
“An American president does not lead the Free World by congratulating dictators on winning sham elections,” McCain wrote on Twitter. “And by doing so with Vladimir Putin, President Trump insulted every Russian citizen who was denied the right to vote in a free and fair election.”
