After serving over 25 years in state-wide elected positions in the state of Alabama, including governor, Don Siegelman is not allowed to receive any retirement from the state. His wife Lori, had to pay back the Social Security benefits he received when he was released to work on an appeal.
After his conviction in 2006, his license to practice law was revoked, reducing his ability to earn money, even as legal bills climbed into the millions of dollars. Over a ten-year span, Alabama political enemies brought him to trial three times on various charges.
In the 2006 trial he was convicted of bribery. Over 110 attorneys general, Democrat and Republican, have said he committed no crime. The judge refused to recuse himself despite his known animosity toward Siegelman.
After what has been called the most politically corrupt trial in US history, he was convicted and sentenced to six years in federal prison in Louisiana.
Please help his wife, Lori as she struggles to keep up their house and old cars running. Send any amount you can to Lori Allen Siegelman, P.O. Box 430116, Birmingham, AL 35243
