The Square – Sundance Award Winning film on Egypt Revolution
by Jehane Noujaim

I’m Jehane Noujaim, director of Control Room,, the TED prize inspired Pangea Day and now – THE SQUARE (made with so many other inspiring and amazing collaborators). THE SQUARE is a film about a group of young Egyptians brought together by a revolution, and who – together – find a new sense of hope for their country… in Tahrir Square. THE SQUARE celebrates the process of a truly democratic movement as it unfolds in real time. It celebrates the people. It celebrates their spirit.

Two years in, the revolution is far from over. We are asking you, the Kickstarter community, to help finish our film. There are so many ways we want to make sure this film really comes to life after its debut at Sundance … in Egypt, in the USA, and really around the world. That’s where you come in! We want to inspire the world, and we need your help.

The Square WON the Audience Award for World Cinema Documentary at Sundance 2013!

“In an industry where words like “brave” are freely tossed around, “The Square” soberly redefines the term. The movie also, it should be said, bolsters the claim that, as international media bureaus are shrinking, local documentarians with handheld cameras are filling the void.”

– Steven Zeitchik, Los Angeles Times

“It’s thrilling to see how some of the savvy demonstrators exploit new media to get their message out.”

– James Greenberg, The Hollywood Reporter

Message from Mark: "I am a one-man operation, although assisted greatly by some volunteers, and, now and then, by people paid by others for one-time projects. There is no shortage of skilled, dedicated folks out there who want to help me. There is, however, nothing I can pay them with, unless you decide you can contribute something."
