Fraccidents Map

The country is in the midst of an unprecedented gas drilling boom — brought on by a controversial technology called hydraulic fracturing or “fracking.” Along with this fracking-fueled gas rush have come troubling reports of poisoned drinking water, polluted air, mysterious animal deaths, industrial disasters and explosions. We call them “Fraccidents.” This map is a sampling of some of the high profile incidents related to the country’s gas drilling boom.

  • Un-fracking-believable. They are going to destroy our cities and towns. Then they will leave.

  • Suddenly California’s latest get-rich-quick scheme is fracking…Fascinating to think it has such support when our water crisis has been front and center for decades and getting worse! Folks, it takes lots of water to frack. This is insanity at its most virulent!

  • No fracking allowed in NY State. Your map is BS.

  • @ Bob- It doesn’t matter weather the map is right or not. It’s the fact that it’s being done in the first place. So frackette…you I guess…apparently are pro not con.

Message from Mark: "I am a one-man operation, although assisted greatly by some volunteers, and, now and then, by people paid by others for one-time projects. There is no shortage of skilled, dedicated folks out there who want to help me. There is, however, nothing I can pay them with, unless you decide you can contribute something."
