Re “Expand Minds, Not the N.Y.U. Campus,” by Ernest Davis, Patrick Deer and Mark Crispin Miller (Op-Ed, April 26):

The academic space plan that New York University has proposed is driven by the space needs articulated by faculty members, departments and schools. As the article says, “That N.Y.U. needs space is a reality.”

That is why faculty members from a wide range of schools and programs — scientists and planners, artists and business professors — turned out to support the university’s plans before the New York City Planning Commission hearing on Wednesday.
