Six people missing after gas explosion rocks Allentown, Pennsylvania

(NewsCore) – ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Six people were missing Thursday and eight houses destroyed following a massive gas explosion and fire in a residential area of Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Firefighters were working through the night to control the blaze sparked by the blast, while 600 people were evacuated from two city blocks, The Morning Call newspaper reported.

Authorities warned there would be “mass casualties” from the incident, which blanketed the city 61 miles (98 kilometers) north of Philadelphia in smoke.
