Obama’s careful NOT to hail “democracy” in Egypt

President Obama, Say the ‘D-Word’
by Mark LeVine

It’s incredible, really. The president of the United States can’t bring himself to talk about democracy in the Middle East. He can dance around it, use euphemisms, throw out words like “freedom” and “tolerance” and “non-violent” and especially “reform,” but he can’t say the one word that really matters: democracy.

How did this happen? After all, in his famous 2009 Cairo speech to the Muslim world, Obama spoke the word loudly and clearly – at least once.

“The fourth issue that I will address is democracy,” he declared, before explaining that while the United States won’t impose its own system, it was committed to governments that “reflect the will of the people… I do have an unyielding belief that all people yearn for certain things: the ability to speak your mind and have a say in how you are governed; confidence in the rule of law and the equal administration of justice; government that is transparent and doesn’t steal from the people; the freedom to live as you choose. Those are not just American ideas, they are human rights, and that is why we will support them everywhere.”

President Obama’s rhetoric on promotion of democracy in the Middle East is a dishonest political deception that has been used for more than 60 years by every American President.

Democracy initiated by the U.S. brings a lose lose situation for poorer nations and win win situation for American and corrupt Western capitalists.

A nation may become a full fledged democracy as that of 1953 Iran where a legitimately elected democratic Govt came to power under the Prime Minister Mussadiq but since he was trying to change the oil policies as Chavez is doing in Venezuela, Iran’s democracy was branded as communist by the CIA. The CIA and Britain plotted and overthrew Iranian democracy and put back the most repressive, corrupt and an obnoxious pro-Zionist and pro-American Shah in power.

Obama was honest in accepting this fact in Cairo and apologising to Iran for the dirty job done by the CIA in 1953 in Iran. After 26 years of horrible and dictatorial rule by Shah, a people’s revolution overthrew Shah but this made the US nervous again. The US is covertly nervous about Tunisian/Egyptian/Algerian democracy and is far more nervous that the disease may quickly spread creating a domino effect.

The US would love to see these nations ruled by autocratic and corrupt rulers like Husni Mubaruk of Egypt hence the milking can go on indefinitely.

It is a well known fact that America loves juntas, dictators, aristocrats, tyrants, monarchs in power but Americans give tremendous lip service to democracy because it serves the international hypocritical image of America as the promoter of democracy.

So the US’s real criteria is not democracy. But the real criteria it is whether the ruling clique is ready to be submissive to American political, economic and military arm twisting as the world has witnessed in Philippines, Mexico, Columbia, Haiti, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Turkey, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Pakistan and the list is long.

The United States is the most militaristic government in the world which tries to wield its influence by interfering in the domestic affairs of independent countries. It has invaded more than 20 countries in the last 50 years.
The US government is part of the New World Order which aims to dominate the world in every aspect of life politically, economically and militarily.
The US munitions industry is one of the most lucrative export industries in the world whose ideology is to keep existing wars going or to create a conflict in order to expand its arms exports.

When it is not making war, America is very happy to sell the weapons of war to regimes around the world including Saudi Arabia, Egypt and most of the Persian Gulf countries where democracy is indeed in short supply. The United States has the largest military in the world whose weaponry is so large it outnumbers in every way imaginable the might and strength of the next 27 countries put together.
