I am asking you to make one critical phone call to the strongest elected official with whom you are most closely connected and ask that official to call upon John Conyers to open a federal investigation into the links between organized gambling in Mississippi and the Siegelman prosecution and the current indictments in Alabama.

Dear Friend,

I am asking you to make a critical phone call.

We need John Conyers, Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, to open an investigation into the links between organized gambling in Mississippi and the prosecution of Governor Siegelman, the indictments which were recently announced in Alabama by the same US Attorney’s office that prosecuted Siegelman, and its links to Karl Rove and Jack Abramoff.

Recent indictments were announced in October before the November general election, and Governor Siegelman was brought to trial one month before his re-election in 2006. Coincidence? I think not!!!

Who do we know is involved in both the Siegelman prosecution and the recent indictments?

In his report to Congress US Senator John McCain revealed that the Choctaw Indians of Mississippi spent millions of dollars to defeat Siegelman and his education lottery proposal. We also know from sworn testimony that Karl Rove and the husband of Siegelman’s prosecutor were involed in Siegelman’s prosecution. And we know that the Governor’s son – Rob Riley was involved. We also know from public documents that Rob Riley has had a longstanding financial interest in gaming operations and many of Governor Bob Riley’s former staff members have economic ties to the Choctaw Indians of Mississippi

In one of the emails published in Senator John McCain’s report to Congress, the Mississippi Choctaw Indians make it clear that since they gave millions to Riley, they want Riley to shut down gambling in Alabama.

What has Bob Riley done to comply with the Mississippi Choctaw’s request? He appointed Siegelman’s prosecutor, to head a commission against class III gaming in Alabama; and most recently appointed a strike force to shut down all bingo operations in Alabama.

When Bob Riley’s appointed Attorney General, disagreed with the Governor, and ruled that bingo was legal, a campaign was launched to destroy him.

There is strong evidence to suggest that the Mississippi Choctaw Indians economic interests were a driving force in Governor Siegelman’s opponent’s campaign and the recent indictments. There is strong evidence that Bob Riley is working in concert with the MS Choctaw Indians to jointly benefit the Mississippi’s economic interests, and the economic and political interests of Riley and his friends.

The U S Attorney’s office is headed by the wife of Rove’s best friend in Alabama. In the Siegelman case only Governor Siegelman and a pro lottery contributor were investigated and prosecuted. And in the current indictments only pro gaming Senators were targeted. Why not follow the millions of dollars, as reported by Senator John McCain, coming into Alabama from the Mississippi Indian casino owners?

We are asking you to make one critical phone call to the elected official with whom you are most closely connected and ask that official to call upon John Conyers to open a federal investigation into the links between organized gambling in Mississippi, Karl Rove and the Siegelman prosecution and the current indictments in Alabama.
