“This book is desperately needed, because it ends any illusion that we can solve our pressing environmental crises within the same system that created them.” Annie Leonard, author and host, The Story of Stuff

“Williams adds a new and vigorous voice to the growing awareness that, yes, it is our capitalist system that is ruining the natural foundation of our civilization and threatening the very idea of a future.” Joel Kovel, author of The Enemy of Nature

New York University – Kimmel Center Rm. 802
60 Washington Square South
New York City

Around the world, consciousness of the threat to our environment is growing. The majority of solutions on offer, from using efficient light bulbs to biking to work, focus on individual lifestyle changes, yet the scale of the crisis requires far deeper adjustments.

Join acclaimed authors, John Bellamy Foster and Chris Williams for a discussion of the enviromental crisis—its causes, but most importantly, possible solutions.

John Bellamy Foster is editor of Monthly Review. He is professor of sociology at the University of Oregon and author of The Ecological Rift (with Brett Clark and Richard York), The Ecological Revolution, The Great Financial Crisis (with Fred Magdoff), and many other books published by Monthly Review Press.

Chris Williams is a longtime environmental activist, professor of physics and chemistry at Pace University, and chair of the science department at Packer Collegiate Institute. He is the author of Ecology and Socialism, published this year by Haymarket Press

Message from Mark: "I am a one-man operation, although assisted greatly by some volunteers, and, now and then, by people paid by others for one-time projects. There is no shortage of skilled, dedicated folks out there who want to help me. There is, however, nothing I can pay them with, unless you decide you can contribute something."
