From Stephanie Low:
The DEC is poised to allow permitting before the end of 2010. We need to pass the Englebright/Addabbo bill before June 21, the end of the legislative session, to provide a moratorium till the EPA concludes its study of hydrofracking’s impacts on water quality and public health.
Without the E/A bill’s passage, the state stands open to the imminent onset of drilling.
Please use the attached fax as a sample to ask Sen. Thompson to put this bill on the Environmental Conservation Committee meeting this Wednesday. It’s not on the agenda now, and without that, the bill cannot pass to a vote. To get it on the agenda will require a tremendous outpouring of requests.
In addition, it is urgent that you call your state senator and ask him/her to reach out to Sen. Thompson , asking him to put the bill on Wednesday’s agenda.
THESE ACTIONS MUST HAPPEN TOMORROW, MONDAY, JUNE 6TH, if they are to be at all effective. Please do your part to protect our state, our families and our selves.
Thanks for all your efforts!
