Corporations vs. Air America
No wonder they’re having financial problems

——-Forwarded Message——-
An internal ABC Radio Networks memo obtained by Media Matters for America, originally from a listener to The Peter B. Collins Show, indicates that nearly 100 ABC advertisers insist that their commercials be blacked out on Air America Radio affiliates. According to the memo, the adverstisers insist that “NONE of their commercials air during AIR AMERICA programming.” Among the advertisers listed are Bank of America, Exxon Mobil, Federal Express, General Electric, McDonald’s, Microsoft, Wal-Mart, and the U.S. Navy.
The memo appears below, and an enlarged version can be viewed here.

Excuse me, but these companies have the perfect right to advertise – or not advertise – anywhere they want. And I would say the same thing if they chose not to advertise on Rush’s show. Or Michael Savage’s. Or Howard Stern’s.

Excuse me, too. I don’t have to purchase products/services from companies that actively work toward the diminution of public discourse in America.

And by the way, advertising is the bane of America. Marketing robs America of its moral standing — when marketing runs the culture our culture reverts to manipulation. Manipulation. Not democracy.
