Why is Disney sucking up to the far right?

ABC has pointedly assured the theocratic right that they will not
substantially revise or modify “The Path to 9/11,” the network’s
now-notorious pro-Bush propaganda telefilm.
This is bizarre. Why do the top brass at Disney feel obligated to
appease Hugh Hewitt and all his war-like tribe? Why do they
promote this thing exactly as Mel Gibson spread the word about
The Passion–i.e., by pre-screening it for right-wing operatives
only? For that matter, why is an outright propaganda film,
produced by veterans of the Bush regime itself, getting broadcast
on the public airwaves two months prior to Election Day?
The Democrats have every right–indeed, they are obliged–
to scream bloody murder over this. They’d also be entirely right
to say (athough, of course, they never would) that there is no
“liberal media,” and that the corporate press is merely Bush’s bitch.

Response from Andi Novick:

Although the Democrats did say:

“ABC is trying to use the airwaves — airwaves owned by you and me, and loaned to broadcasters as a public trust — to slander Democrats and sell a slanderous, irresponsible fraud to the American people, and they’re shamefully doing it just weeks away from Election Day.” (see

We should remind them sometime (if they ever get majority control again and even if not) that the broadcasters are indeed our tenants, but it is the government who is charged with the responsibility for protecting the public trust.
