Dear friends,

I write to alert you to a crucial national effort in which I am proud participant–an effort to drive out the Bush regime.

On Jan. 31, during Bush’s State of the Union address, and then again on Saturday, Feb. 4, there will be mass protests nationwide, demanding that Bush step down, and take his cohorts with him.

The State of the Union will define the Bush agenda in the coming months. Will Bush be able to legitimize the rampant spying by his government, andhis unnecessary losing wars, and his malign neglect of New Orleans, and his efforts to transform the Supreme Court into a bludgeon for his own imperial authority? Will he drag this nation that much closer to the brink of fascism? Or will he be challenged and confronted hugely, and in the light of day?

It’s up to us. It’s up to you.

Please spread the word. Give money.
Hit the streets in your own city on Jan. 31,
and be with us in Washington on Feb. 4.

Visit for more information.

Please join me and other patriots–Harry Belafonte, actor Mark Ruffalo, filmmaker St. Claire Bourne, U.S. Representative Cynthia McKinney, U.S. Representative Bobby Rush, U.S. Representative Maxine Waters, Susan Sarandon, Rev. Al Sharpton, Sean Penn, Jessica Lange, Congressman Major Owens, curator of the Darwin Show at the Museum of Natural History Niles Eldredge, Lewis Lapham, Martin Garbus, Executive Director of the National Lawyer’s Guild of Los Angeles Jim Lafferty, Tom Morello, Michael Eric Dyson, Cornel West, Howard Zinn, Harold Pinter, among many others–in signing the Call below.

The World Can’t Wait – Drive Out the Bush Regime

Your government, on the basis of outrageous lies, is waging a murderous and utterly illegitimate war in Iraq, with other countries in their sights.

Your government is openly torturing people, and justifying it.

Your government puts people in jail on the merest suspicion, refusing them lawyers, and either holding them indefinitely or deporting them in the dead of night.

Your government is moving each day closer to a theocracy, where a narrow and hateful brand of Christian fundamentalism will rule.

Your government suppresses the science that doesn’t fit its religious, political and economic agenda, forcing present and future generations to pay a terrible price.

Your government is moving to deny women here, and all over the world, the right to birth control and abortion.
Your government enforces a culture of greed, bigotry, intolerance and ignorance.

People look at all this and think of Hitler – and they are right to do so. The Bush regime is setting out to radically remake society very quickly, in a fascist way, and for generations to come. We must act now; the future is in the balance.

Millions and millions are deeply disturbed and outraged by this. They recognize the need for a vehicle to express this outrage, yet they cannot find it; politics as usual cannot meet the enormity of the challenge, and people sense this.

There is not going to be some magical “pendulum swing.” People who steal elections and believe they’re on a “mission from God” will not go without a fight.

There is not going to be some savior from the Democratic Party. This whole idea of putting our hopes and energies into “leaders” who tell us to seek common ground with fascists and religious fanatics is proving every day to be a disaster, and actually serves to demobilize people.

But silence and paralysis are NOT acceptable. That which you will not resist and mobilize to stop, you will learn – or be forced – to accept. There is no escaping it: the whole disastrous course of this Bush regime must be STOPPED. And we must take the responsibility to do it.
And there is a way. We are talking about something on a scale that can really make a huge change in this country and in the world. We need more than fighting Bush’s outrages one at a time, constantly losing ground to the whole onslaught. We must, and can, aim to create a political situation where the Bush regime’s program is repudiated, where Bush himself is driven from office, and where the whole direction he has been taking society is reversed. We, in our millions, must and can take responsibility to change the course of history.

Acting in this way, we join with and give support and heart to people all over the globe who so urgently need and want this regime to be stopped.

This will not be easy. If we speak the truth, they will try to silence us. If we act, they will to try to stop us. But we speak for the majority, here and around the world, and as we get this going we are going to reach out to the people who have been so badly fooled by Bush and we are NOT going to stop.

The point is this: history is full of examples where people who had right on their side fought against tremendous odds and were victorious. And it is also full of examples of people passively hoping to wait it out, only to get swallowed up by a horror beyond what they ever imagined. The future is unwritten. WHICH ONE WE GET IS UP TO US.

World Can’t Wait is fronted by the Revolutionary Communist Party, Miller. You just whored yourself out to a governmental philosophy that has murdered over 100 million civilians. Shame on you.

Correction, Mark just made a stirring and wholely accurate assessment of exactly the facts before us and the option we have to do something about it. You, anonymous, have attempted to distract from the subject of the post by casting aspersions on the organizers. That’s the first rule of the Bush Crime machine — attack and label the organizers and impute sinister motives rather than justify, defend or explain the atrocities against democracy committed by this repugnant regime you support. Your anti-democratic sentiments and blatant red-baiting are what is truely shameful here.

Amended correction, your anti-democratic sentiments and blatant red-baiting are what ARE truely shameful here. And they are. Truely.

I am in complete agreement with your assessment of the “Bush Reich.” However, I do not believe corruption is limited strictly to the Neo-cons or the Bush administration; the whole political system is in dire need of reform. Therefore, simply ousting Bush will not cure much of anything in my mind unless the government knows the country won’t stand for it again. That being said, what you are planning is indeed honorable, and I fully endorse it, as dissent and protest are a step in the direction necessary for the reforms needed.

Bravo, and best wishes.

While I wholeheartedly agree that the Bush Inc/PNAC neocon regime is nefarious to its core, I likewise agree with reverend Silvester in, given the MASS institutional treason and willingness to “go along with” of practically the Establishment entire, the whole gov/corporate/military system is corrupt to the core and has been long before the overtly fascist neocon coup of 2000, which I believe all “sides” played their respective roles in enabling much of what’s happened in the past five years.

That is to say, all that’s happened was obviously in the works for yrs before the “opportunity” was seized, with a great deal of reliance on a shifted-to-the-right strategy within the populace in order to sufficiantly “dumb down” [through framed, limited, and omitted facts] perceptions so that coupled with the the newfound cultural spine of theocracy, and phony/staged “terrorist” attacks of 9/11, it was a piece of cake to use these combo of elements to mobilize much of the country toward the desired PNAC position.

It’s easy to simply lay the blame to Bush Co, of course, and that’s not to suggest they’re not a shadowy bunch, but most of the Establishment seems as though it’s run like a crime syndicate that says one thing while doing just the opposite. Remember, this country was founded by slave owners who wanted equality for all men.

Naturally, most who are raised in such a fucked environment will internalize those fucked values for themselves, and will largely be incapable of recognizing the corruption and inconsistencies. I mean, how many average people could even explain how a telephone or combustible engine works, right, much less be familiar with the tenets of fascism or constitutionality?

I do believe many would stand up and fight for what’s true and moral, but the way the entire structure is set up, we’re clearly seeing that it will unfortunately be far too late, with the situation well on to WW3, before enough begin to hear the warning sirens. And that’s exactly what Power rightfully banked on all these yrs–it’s brilliant in that respect; commit horrendous crimes right out in the open, yet have a vast perception managing apparatus that blinds the populace to said atrocities, and sedates them by appealing to the lowest common denominator. Ignorance/denial is bliss…but only for a short time, then you pay the piper.

Anyhow, kudos to Mark and the millions who try to raise awareness and work for positive change.

BTW, anyone know why one has to repeatedly use the “word verifyer” before a comment will post? And I mean literally EVERY time ;)

“Red Baiting…” What I posted about World Can’t Wait is 100% verifiable. Chew on this: If there was a pro-Bush rally or a support-the-troops rally that was being sponsored by a member of the KKK or Aryan nations, lefties would be all over that like goats on garbage. And the mainstream press would probably mention that; I doubt any of them will mention the World-Can’t-Wait/Communist ties. If any of these people bring their noise to my neighborhood, I will turn up President Bush’s address full volume. I will drown out their treason and hatred.

“Treason and hatred,” eh?

BushCo has harmed this nation far more grievously than all the Marxist forces in world history. On this dark fact genuine conservatives agree with people on the so-called left.

So turn your TV up as loud as it’ll go. You’re only going to suffer with the rest of us if we, the people, don’t act now to end this tyranny.

“If any of these people bring their noise to my neighborhood, I will turn up President Bush’s address full volume. I will drown out their treason and hatred”

Oh come now, anon, you’ve masturbated over that very scenario, haven’t you? lol

Okay, imagine you see a grown man beating up a child.
Do you:
1)Instinctively recognize the immorality of the situation and intervene immediately.
2)Act like a demented cheerleader for barbarism and “defend” the man from the “hateful” criticism he has brought upon himself for such abhorrent behavior?

You believe as you do simply because you’ve subjected the din of your consciousness to an apparatus controlled by those who need to disguise and pervert truth and reality, to the degree that, many of you out there, apparently, would side with the man instead of the child.

That’s how opposite our perceptions of “reality” are. And there’s absolutely nothing “hateful” about making such observations.

Actually, I feel sympathy for your kin; you’re just horribly misguided and fail to understand that this poison jive you’ve been “instructed” to fervently defend victimizes you more than rightful critics and dissidents.

Not as much though, however, as say, the hundreds of thousands mass murdered by a government that carries out its policies in ALL of OUR names. That’s the shame, buddy. Your bad karma is everyone’s bad karma. Take it up with your creator…

100 million civilians murdered by Communist governments. And you’re going to say that Bush has harmed this nation more than all the Marxist forces?? People have told me that ganja has been getting more potent over the last few decades. I see now they must be right.

I’m speaking out against this World Can’t Wait group so that Marxism doesn’t take hold in this nation, Perfesser

I just attended a World Can’t Wait meeting specifically because I had I own suspicions that there was something funny (almost cult-like) about this group. They have been coming to meetings of local peace groups and rudely trying to take over the agenda and recruit members. They recently hijacked a progressive anti-violence march in an African American neighborhood, joining the march in progress by stepping in front to lead it with their banners creating the appearance that the entire march was them. At the meeting, a discussion of the Alito hearings began, only to be packed with negative disinformation by the leader of the group about the positions of senators regarding a filibuster. I spoke out explaining the growing potential for a filibuster that is being fueled by the actions of ordinary citizens like myself and asked the group if anyone had taken any action to affect the outcome. No one had done anything. The leader seemed miffed that we had gotten off topic of drowning out the Bush regime and explained that they try not to waste their time on small individual issues, focusing on the bigger picture. In fact if you examine their agenda, there is practically nothing there. Their future plans extend only a month or so focusing on the State of the Union Address and an upcoming bus trip to Washington and continued fundraising. I asked them what they expect upon successful completion of their stated goal of driving out the Bush regime, and they claim not to know. I explained that Denny Hassert would become President and they said they would drive him out then, still offering now idea for what is to follow. Look at their website and try to figure it out yourself.
Now go to the website for the Revolutionary Communist Party and type “World Can’t Wait” into their internal site search engine. Of the many hits, I suggest reading this one:
Read it for yourself and come to your own conclusions.
I think that the RCP has created this WCW as a front group hoping to capitalize on the widespread discontent with the Bush Administration using Neocon-like deception to hide their true role and goals. The group is cult-like in their narrow focus on meaningless stay home from work strikes and fund raising, fund raising, fund raising. No other group I’ve attended had bullied their members to bring back the money to justify the fliers they taken. They seriously remind me of the Moonies and I almost jokingly suggested that they consider flower sales at airports.
Their efforts will not achieve anything, specifically they will not make the Bush Regime step down and they will not kick start a communist revolution.
Their efforts will drain funds from well meaning, generous yet gullible progressives whose fund could have made a difference for serious progressive group.
